Miami Science Museum
Miami,
United States
As a key attraction in the city’s open-air waterfront Museum Park, the 250,000 square foot Miami Science Museum is located between the new Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and the American Airlines Arena in downtown Miami. It will share the city’s 40 acre Museum Park with the new Miami Art Museum thus creating a strong cultural center, stimulating visitors’ minds and imaginations. It will introduce the basic concepts of science and technology while providing a unique educational resource for people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. PERI was awarded as the supplier for the construction of the planetarium walls using VARIO, VARIOKIT and MULTIFLEX. One of the reasons PERI was selected as a supplier was the ability to provide a cost effective customized solution for the unique dome structure of the planetarium in a short period of time while at the same time guaranteeing a perfect finish to meet the architectural concrete and set tie pattern requirements using self-compacting concrete. This was achieved by fabricating custom-made VARIO forms with a fiberglass formlining mounted on a VARIOKIT structure for the construction of the concave-shaped walls.
