This 33-story, 496-unit residential apartment tower is located just south of Polk Street in downtown Chicago. Walsh Construction chose PERI as the supplier for all their concrete forming and shoring requirements.
For the core of the high-rise, Walsh required a climbing system with the capacity to support and hydraulically climb all the formwork, the concrete placing boom, stairtower as well as integrated internal and external platforms. In addition they needed forming and shoring systems for the decks on this project.
PERI provided the ACS Core 400 hydraulic climbing system for the core of the building. Strong hydraulics and climbing brackets allow climbing the entire unit – including the formwork, the internal and external platforms, stairtower , placing boom etc. – from one level to the next in only 20 minutes and in one lift.
With only 2 anchor points per bracket – the climbing bracket re-uses the anchor hole of the working bracket as the system climbs to the next level – Walsh was able to operate the entire core system with only 2 carpenters and 1 helper.
For the decks Walsh used PERI MULTIFLEX Girder slab formwork.
Walsh Construction
PERI is the supplier of our core system and all our conventional decking systems, our gang walls, outside platforms, roll-back walls, basically they got everything that is bringing this building up. They are really experienced professionals that have everything on hand. We expect top quality, efficiency and we expect the best from them when we bring them on a jobsite. PERI has been able to meet that standard and more. We are very happy with them.
I would say it's the Cadillac of systems. Any contractor that wants to put a good product out there, with quick results and less manpower, I would recommend it. This system makes my job simple.
