For the construction of a 3 story single family beach home in Panama City, Bocci Group used the brand new PERI DUO Lightweight Handset Formwork System as one of the first users in the US.
Bocci Group needed the concrete Forms for the construction of the perimeter walls and the columns of the home.
Since the contractor was working on a second house with a similar layout at the same time, they decided to test DUO against traditional stick-framing and plywood methods side-by-side.
Needless to say DUO proved to be a huge efficiency and cost reduction lever. Owner Robbie Boccabello says "I do not have to use my higher skilled carpenters and I can use a smaller size crew for DUO (4 to 6 men) compared to the stick frame crew (6 to 8). DUO has a quick learning curve, I have been impressed with how quick the crew has learned the system."
Further he states "Labor costs are significantly less with DUO due to the fact there are less holes to patch, less material and labor, plus less labor having to snap / break ties and remove cones. I would say at least 50% reduction of point and patch costs".
The light weight of the forms directly impacted the pace at which the crew worked.
