Ballpark Village, San Diego, CA

Project data

Location: San Diego, CA, United States

Located just blocks from the San Diego waterfront, Ballpark Village is being constructed on a triangular 3.7-acre lot adjacent to Petco Park. The development includes a 37-story tower with more than 400 luxury apartments and another 274 rental units in six- and seven-story low-rise units. Linked by elevated walkways, the buildings also share a three-level parking structure with 145,000 ft2 per level.

Requirements

The contractor used 85,000 ft2 of SKYDECK to form the lower levels over a five-month period. Forming the tower levels was done over 16 months using 33,000 ft2 of SKYDECK, along with three levels of PEP Ergo shoring and 42 LPS lightweight climbing protection panels. The setup also required three outriggers, and a PERI UP Flex Stair tower provided access for personnel. The SKYDECK system’s ease of use and light weight components were particularly valuable on this project because all the forming could be set from below while the LPS perimeter protection screens provided a safe workspace at all times.

I successfully use PERI on most of my projects.

PERI solution

  • LPS is the alternative to heavy, enclosed protection panel systems. LPS can be used as perimeter protection or with supplementary working platform for access to slab edge formwork.
