Transbay Block 8
San Francisco,
United States
Three residential buildings – a 55-story tower and two mid-rise podium buildings – are under construction in San Francisco’s Transbay Block 8, just two blocks from the Transbay Transit Center. The upper floors of the 550-ft tower include 118 luxury condos. Luxury (280) and affordable (150) apartments are on the lower floors and in the two podium structures. A public paseo crosses the block on a diagonal between the buildings. Contractor Webcor Concrete is using PERI’s RCS-S Rail Climbing System with VARIO Wall Formwork for the interior core walls of the mid-rise buildings. The hydraulic pumps and cylinders that are part of this system enable the formwork to climb independent of the crane. Pre-assembly of the VARIO Wall Formwork has been a key feature in maintaining the aggressive construction schedule. On the 55-story tower, Webcor is using PERI’s RCS P Perimeter Protection System to contain construction debris, which is always important on an urban site like this.
