Saint John's on the Lake, Milwaukee, WI

Project data

Location: Milwaukee, United States

Saint John’s On The Lake is Milwaukee’s premier retirement community, with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the city’s skyline. To expand the occupancy level, the senior housing and licensed-care facility is replacing one of the towers in the three-tower complex. The facility will be able to service more residents with the 244 ft. tall tower, consisting of 21 floors with 170 units of senior living residences. The whole structure, residing atop two levels of underground parking and a first-floor town center.

Bluemound Builder Supply selected PERI to provide the full scope formwork for this high profile project, electing to use TRIO to form the perimeter walls of the parking levels and SKYTABLE  formwork to form the 72,000 sq. ft. slabs.  VARIO is used for the core wall and three shear walls, which extend the full height of the building. Also, the ACS self-climbing platform and RCS rail climbing systems are configured to pour the walls on the same day as the surrounding slab.

The level slabs are formed with a combination of UNIPORTAL perimeter tables and SKYTABLE. Used together; these two systems provided the contractor many advantages: perimeter tables are low in weight, quickly moved with the use of a lifting fork, and provide maximum safety as no loose forming is performed at the edge of the slabs. SKYTABLE on the interior enabled high productivity as the individual components are lightweight and easily handset.

Requirements

  • Hydraulic climbing for core wall forming
  • Smooth finish required for the core wall and shear wall
