Using VARIO Wall Formwork System and
KG Climbing System – Reduce Labor Force
The Phoenix Sky Harbor Control Tower is a $54 Million construction project consisting of a 320 ft (98.00 m) air traffic control tower east of Terminal 3. The tower will provide controllers with a 360 degree view of the airfield and the capability to monitor and control aircraft up to 40 miles (65 km). The Phoenix airport is the fifth busiest in the U.S. and is located in one of the fastestgrowing cities in the U.S.
Kiewit Western Co. was awarded this contract with an expectation to deliver an architectural finish on all exposed structures. In order to accomplish this task, PERI was brought on board to supply a forming system that would allow Kiewit to stay on schedule while delivering a superior product. For this project PERI supplied the VARIO wall formwork system for those sections requiring exceptional finish as well as the TRIO wall formwork system which allowed Kiewit to meet their deadlines.
For the air traffic control tower, PERI supplied the proven KG Climbing Bracket along with the VARIO wall formwork system. Using the KG system along with a trailing platform, allowed the client to perform any finish work in a safe and secure environment. The KG system is also available with a roll-back option allowing the formwork to retract from the wall for easy access.
