Automatic Climbing System ACS
Helps Free Up Crane
Findorff was awarded the construction of the 36-story University Club Tower in Milwaukee with the intent of building this structure only 25 feet away from two adjacent buildings. With space being a premium on the site and only having room for one tower crane, it was decided that only PERI Formwork Systems could supply the necessary solutions needed for this job.
PERI‘s ACS (Automatic Climbing System) was chosen for this project because Findorff wanted to run the shear walls ahead of the horizontal slabs. Using standard ACS-R brackets, PERI supplied a solution which reduced overall man power and eliminated the need for a crane. PERI also incorporated a placing boom from the center core on the ACS system, offering another significant reduction in required crane operation. The design of this overall system allowed Findorff to form, strip and climb without the use of the crane in a four day cycle.
PERI supplied Findorff with a supervisor that stayed on the University Club Tower job for six weeks, helping the crew to set up the system, teach them the advantages of the system and ensure operations were carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
