Solid Fuel Power Station, Manjung, Malaysia

The right system for all requirements: A wide range of system components on a mega construction site

The largest power station in the southeast-asian tiger state is being constructed on the West coast of Malaysia, 200 km to the North of Kuala Lumpur.
Providing totally 2,100 MW the plant designed for TNB Janamanjung by a Consortium of Alstom Power and Peremba Construction will provide a major part of power supply for the country. There is only an 18 month construction time to complete 250,000 m² of formwork. Well considered PERI formwork solutions and systems will decisively add to the total economical completion.

A 1.5 km long, three-chamber tunnel, will extract the cooling water for the plant from the sea. The 10 m long chamber sections, weighing 400 t, will be made for this on site and will then be loaded onto special barges and sunk in the sea. The construction of the chamber sections takes place in two concreting cycles: after the base slab the walls and top slab are concreted in one pour in a second cycle.

PERI Systems In Use
  • CB Climbing System
  • PD 8 Shoring Tower
  • TRIO 330
  • VARIO units with special steel walings form the core formwork and, after collapsing, can be completely “drawn” out of the cores. This is of advantage for the continued production: because expensive disassembly and reassembly is unnecessary. The formwork is immediately ready for use again. It can hardly be faster. Nine base slab formworks, six core and four wall sets allow six individual sections to be constructed each week.
The landing bridges, that will later serve the delivery of coal for the power station, and during the construction period for loading the cooling water chamber sections, extend far into the sea. With seven base slab and three VARIO side formwork sets the site construct up to four beams each week.,The landing bridges, that will later serve the delivery of coal for the power station, and during the construction period for loading the cooling water chamber sections, extend far into the sea.
