West Side Combined Sewer Overflow Project, Portland, OR
Simple Solution for Concreting from Top Down: Inverted Single-sided SKS Platforms
The West Side Combined Sewer Overflow Project, when completed will collect wastewater from existing sewers and carry it over 4 miles under the Willamette River. PERI supplied formwork for the central pumping station built 150 ft (46 m) below the surface. Concrete inner walls were cast downward from the middle section of the pump while earth was being excavated. An inverted single-sided formwork system (SKS) was used to form this massive underground pumping station.
The system was assembled on the ground and flown into position using a special adaptor for the inverted SKS brackets.
