Simple Solution to a Complex Building Structure
This new, 250,000 ft² (23,225 m²) theater center is located in the historic Mills District on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis.
The Proscenium and Thrust Stage walls were constructed as a 2 ft (60 cm) thick foundation wall with two 10”(25 cm) thick walls separated by a 4”(5 cm) dead air space extending upward more than 120 ft (36 m). The formwork shown is for the second 10”(25 cm) wall which was formed using a 1”(2.5 cm) thick steel plate inside of TRIO panels and mounted on KG brackets. The steel plates had holes drilled and nuts welded into them to match the TRIO tie pattern. Two rows of taper ties were required for the 10 ft (3 m) lift height using TRIO 330.
