Limiting costs for a damaged facade with restricted tying in
Where installing ties proves too costly or where the number and position of the ties is restricted the stability of the scaffold can be improved by consideration of the scaffold requirements. This can be incorporated in the design of the scaffold.
Following a fire the council chamber of the land registry suffered damage to roof and wall cladding. No access was permitted, for material or tradesmen, through the building; this had to be via the scaffold.
To avoid removal of the undamaged copper cladding PERI designed the scaffold to be tied only at roof level. This considerably reduced the costs for repair of the facade.
