SKYDECK and MULTIFLEX: Flexible and Quick Slab Forming Systems
Thanks to its natural beauty and grandeur, the Niagara Falls is among the most popular tourist attractions in Canada with over 12 million visitors a year. With this construction project, the operating consortium wanted to benefit from the great demand for hotel rooms and leisure activities for the tourists.
The construction site is one of the biggest in Canada and includes parking lots, casino and hotel facilities.
Corresponding to a structure of the individual building element, PERI engineers planned the use of two slab formwork systems.
For the areas with a large slab height clearance of over 6 m, construction crews made fast progress using MULTIFLEX tables on MULTIPROP props. Due to the large-sized tables, all casting segments were quickly completed with only a minimum number of crane lifts.
The remaining deck heights were formed with SKYDECK. Construction crews praised the easy handling and low weight of the SKYDECK components as well as the possibility to integrate the formwork for the specially designed mushroom-shaped column heads into the panel grid.
