Smithkline Beecham Biopharm Facility in Conshohocken, PA
PERI TRIO with its unique BFD connector proves itself at Smithkline Beecham Biopharm Facility in Conshohocken, PA
The cast in place concrete foundation consisted of 600 lineal feet of 26 to 31 feet high walls. Multiple corners, variable size pilasters and pilaster spacings all added to the difficulties of the project in that, of the 24 wall pours to be made only two were the same. Pietrini wisely requested and received permission to eliminate a horizontal construction joint located at mid height of the wall.
This allowed them to place the wall full height, and by doing so, they saved countless man hours that would otherwise have been required to make a second lift. The problem was to find a forming system that was sufficiently strong and rigid enough to handle the extra concrete pressures to be expected from a rapidly placed high wall pour. The system also had to be flexible enough to be easily reconfigured from one pour to the next. PERI TRIO easily fit the requirements on both accounts. The Smithkline Beecham Pharmaceuticals Corporation has recently constructed a new Biopharm manufacturing building at its main facility located at Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Turner Construction Company was the Construction Manager for the project, and B. Pietrini & Sons of King of Prussia was the concrete subcontractor.
