The Westin at the Domain, Austin,Texas
BEAMDECK and Swivel Head Perimeter Tables Quickly and Safely Form Elevated Slabs
The Westin Hotel project, located at the Domain, a high-end mixed use development in North Austin, is a 66’ x 380’ (20.10 m x 115.80 m) eight story post-tensioned concrete slab structure with four shear walls. BEAMDECK, used with Swivel Head perimeter tables, prove to be the safest, most economical system for the project’s elevated decks.
BEAMDECK, with a large 83” x 83” (210 cm x 210 cm) grid, allows for early stripping of the primary and secondary beams by means of the drophead feature which keeps the shores in place during the stripping process. MULTIPROP 625, capable of extending to 20’-6” (6.30 m) are used to shore the 18’ (5.50 m) tall second level, and the economical PEP 30-350 Props are used for the typical floors.
The 27’ x 12’ (8.20 m x 3.70 m) Swivel Head tables with built-in handrails provide 4’ (1.20 m) of cantilevered workspace at the building perimeter and allow the contractor to move 324 ft² (30 m²) between column lines with one crane pick using the PERI lifting fork. This lifting fork is also used to move an outrigger made of standard PERI components from floor to floor to help facilitate the cycling of BEAMDECK equipment and re-shores.
