West 44th Street Hotel, New York
RCS P - First Used in New York
Achieves Two-day Cycle
Since safety is priority # 1, self-climbing RCS P Protection panels were ordered for the construction of the 34 story 44th Street Hotel project in New York City. The system was selected to be used for the first time in New York to provide uncompromising safety for the construction workers and to protect pedestrians and traffic below from falling debris on this congested building site.
A total of 29 RCS panels with guard rails enclose the perimeter of the 10,530.30 ft² (978 m²) footprint providing a safe working environment. With the building enclosed, workers aren’t aware of the height which increases productivity. In addition, four self-climbing landing platforms were supplied for moving of slab formwork to achieve a two-day cycle.
Each protection panel is climbed in less than 15 minutes using two hydraulic units.
