Prairie House, Central Station Condominium, Chicago, IL, USA
Ease and Speed of SKYDECK help to achieve Production and Scheduling GoalsIn close proximity to Soldier Field Stadium, the Prairie House Condominium Project is under con-struction. This 183-unit concrete frame development with 15 floors started in the fall of 2000, and is slated for completion in the spring of 2002. After observing other large SKYDECK sites in the Chicago area (see previous PERISCOPEs for details), the contractor Paul H. Schwendener was convinced that the SKYDECK system could provide them with an advantage for this building. They decided to rent 46,000 sqft (4,273.4 m²) of SKYDECK and 3,000 sqft (278.7 m²) of MULTIFLEX. With its logically predetermined erection sequence of prop, main-beam and panel, site erection sequence is extremely quick. The MULTIFLEX system proved useful for closing difficult infill areas as well as shoring structural beams and inclined decks for the parking ramps.
