LeMeridien Chicago O‘Hare Hotel, Rosemont, Illinois
Architectural Concrete Finish Achieved
Using PERI VARIO
Situated next to busy O’Hare Airport is the new LeMeridien Chicago O’Hare Hotel. This structure includes a plaza level and 14 floors of guest rooms. The building‘s architectural concrete exterior features walls, columns and spandrel beams which were all formed with VARIO. This component formwork system uses the patented GT 24 girder and steel walers which can be arranged for specific tie patterns and high concrete pressure. PERI preassembled all of the VARIO formwork panels at its Chicago yard. Shoring for this project was done with MULTIFLEX, which also employs the GT 24 girder. The plaza level was particularly challenging because of the 28 ft (8.50 m) tall shore height. Each typical level was broken into three pours on a 6-day floor cycle.
