TRIO and KG Systems Form Tall Walls

Construction of the five concrete core and shear walls for the 14 story expansion to the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital was accomplished using TRIO panelized wall formwork and KGF clim-bing units. The 16“ (40 cm) walls were typically 15 ft (4.60 m) tall with one 19 ft (5.80 m) non-typical lift. The TRIO formwork was easily extended with 4‘ panels for the non-typical lift using only the BFD panel coupler.

KGF climbing units were used to support the TRIO and provided a safe working platform to carry out the formwork operations. The KGF units were outfitted with roll back carriages to allow comfortable access to clean the form face between lifts. The five walls were poured seperately on a 7-day floor cycle.

“The combination of KG and TRIO was ideal for the cores of this project. The competitors had a lot more parts and could not support the 19 ft form heights needed for some pours of this project. It was a clear choice to use PERI.“
