Fast UNIPORTAL Table Solution:
54 Tables Cycles in 8 Hours

General contractor Armada Hoffler Construction awarded Century Concrete with building the 39 story Westin Hotel & Residences as part of a $500 million downtown development called “The Town Center”. In addition to the first floor retail space, there will be 236 hotel room units on 10 of the floors and 21 floors of condominium space. The adjacent 25,000 ft² (2,300 m²) 5 level parking structure is being constructed concurrently with the 39 level 14,500 ft² (1,350 m²) tower.

All slabs are being formed with UNIPORTAL, the fast tableform that enables the props to be quickly folded away during table transportation. Combining the effective use of the PERI 1.75 t lifting fork and transportation trolley, Century Concrete has consistently achieved high productivity rates with the tables throughout the building. It was not uncommon for Century to achieve 10 hour floor cycle times of the 54 tables on each level. With the exception of the 20 ft (6.10 m) ceiling height on the first floor retail structures, the shoring was typically 10 ft (3.00 m) high for the tower level decks.

There were a total of 108 tables on the tower, 54 on active floor with 54 on the preceding level with 94 tables on the parking garage. The sizes of the tables varied, but the majority were 20 ft by 20 ft (6.10 m by 6.10 m). Tables were also effectively used to shore the 6.5% grade of the ramps.

“The wide range and high strength of the GT 24 girders allows us to create tables that shore over 90% of the areas we would traditionally do with loose fill. This saves us both labor and raw material costs and overall this table is very, very fast to move.”
