Minto Midtown, Toronto, Ontario
Safe an Fast: New PERI SKYTABLE System
Located on Yonge and Eglinton street, the Minto Midtown project will comprise of two residential towers, North 524 ft (160 m) and South 387 ft (118 m), seperated by a 10,010 ft² (930 m²) courtyard.
Resform Construction is using PERI forms exclusively on this concrete project. TRIO panels are used for both walls and columns throughout the building. The versatility of SKYDECK made it the ideal choice for the parking and plaza levels. It could be easily adapted to the ramps and slab irregularities on the underground parking levels. The building's large open facades allowed the new PERI SKYTABLE (slab table) system to be used on the highly repetitive floorplans of the South tower, and eventually the North tower when it begins.
The tables range in size from 1,046 ft² (97.20 m²) to 225 ft² (20.90 m²) and can be raised to the next level incredibly quickly with minimal labor needs. Table flying times less than 5 minutes were achieved. Unlike other available large slab table systems, the rear hoisting chain is attached from the beginning and the lifting action of the crane moves the table laterally. At no time a worker is standing on a suspended table. Safe, smooth and efficient.
To meet the two floor per week schedule for the regular tower floorplans, the ACS (Automatic Climbing System) is used for the cores of each building to free up crane time. MULTIFLEX, the variable girder slab formwork system is used to shore the irregular areas of each floorplan.
The Minto Midtown is expected to be complete in October of 2007.

Louie Tenaglia,
Foreman
“This is my first experience with PERI and I am glad we used them. The SKYTABLE is the safest and most efficient slab table system. No workers are needed to push the table to the slab edge, the winch does it all. The speed in which we could fly this table was important as we needed to have police stop traffic on Yonge Street for the West face tables.”
